Humon Group Hosts the “Say No to Empty Formalities and Embrace Practicality” Lecture

The spring breeze brings renewal and vitality. On the afternoon of March 31, a lively atmosphere prevailed in the conference room on the fifth floor of Humon Group as the Employee Lecture Series, themed “Say No to Empty Formalities and Embrace Practicality,” officially kicked off. More than 130 cadres and employees from various companies gathered to delve into deep-rooted problems in work style through intellectual exchanges and to jointly explore effective solutions to break the deadlock through the collision of ideas.

Using the Mirror to Straighten the Crown: Short Essays Reveal Real-World Pain Points

The lecture series took the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala sketch “Flower Stand” as its starting point, revisiting this satirical work that focuses on grassroots-level ecology and vividly exposes such persistent formalistic maladies as “beautifying materials in lieu of genuine, down-to-earth efforts” and “emphasizing inspection documentation over actual problem-solving.”

Twelve spokespersons from various companies—representing production, technology, management, and other functional areas—used the plot of the play as a mirror to conduct an in-depth analysis. “When formalism dons a glamorous façade, safety hazards can turn into time bombs,” said a safety manager, exposing the hidden risks behind “photo-op inspections.” “Any defect we overlook could become a dagger aimed at our company’s reputation. When we stamp something ‘qualified,’ what we’re really sealing is not just the company’s dignity but also our commitment to every customer,” remarked a quality-inspection employee, reflecting on the pernicious consequences of the misguided notion that “quality inspection is simply ticking boxes against a checklist.” “R&D must cultivate a culture of ‘authenticity’ and drive genuine innovation by tackling real problems,” asserted an R&D professional, highlighting the dangers of unrealistic innovation. “Implementation must be precise and targeted; it must not be layered with incremental requirements that end up building castles in the air,” noted a manager, illustrating how distortions can occur during the cascade of task assignment and communication. Each case and each scene of this incisive analysis prompted the audience to frequently jot down their reflections in their notebooks.

Combining Breakthrough and Establishment: A Winning Approach to Problem-Solving That Delivers Tangible Results

The Grand Lecture Series is not the end but rather a new starting point for improving our work style. The best report is tangible results, and the most admirable posture is one of humility and practical action. This series goes beyond merely exposing problems; it focuses on finding solutions and breaking deadlocks. Participants unanimously agreed that they will begin with themselves and act in the present, ensuring that no mere showmanship can hide and that every pragmatic initiative takes root and delivers real impact.

This lecture adopted on-site scoring. A panel of judges from the Group and its subsidiaries scored the presentations quantitatively from multiple dimensions, including the accuracy of the issues, the feasibility of the measures, and the promotion value, according to the scoring criteria, and awarded prizes based on the scores. These substantive speeches will be publicized and promoted through the Group’s “Humon e-Jia” WeChat group for reference and learning. This initiative aims to inspire cadres and employees to carry forward the spirit of “pragmatic and diligent work,” and, through this springtime ideological cleansing, promote further improvements in work style with the courage to conduct self-criticism and down-to-earth actions, striving to elevate all aspects of work to a new level.
