Sustainable Development
1988
Humon Group was founded in 1988 as a county-owned collective enterprise named “Muping County Cyanide Plant,” which smelted gold using the roasting-cyanidation method and produced sulfuric acid as a byproduct. The first and second phases of the project were completed and put into operation in 1991 and 1995, respectively.
1994
In 1994, it was restructured into a joint-stock company named “Muping County Oriental Smelting Co., Ltd.”
1997
In 1997, it was restructured and officially approved by the Shandong Provincial Government, subsequently being renamed “Shandong Dongfang Smelting Co., Ltd.”
2002
In 2002, all state-owned shares were completely divested. Since 1996, the company has successively acquired seven gold mines, including the former Muping Jinniushan Gold Mine, Muping Hagoushan Gold Mine, and Muping Fuluji Gold Mine, as well as several enterprises such as the former Muping Chemical Plant, Muping County Phosphate Fertilizer Plant, Muping County Detergent Factory, and Yantai Corrosion-Resistant Pump Factory. At the same time, it has developed and constructed projects in machinery, printing, apparel, import–export trade, catering, and tourism. In 2002, the company took the lead in introducing advanced foreign technologies for the comprehensive recovery of complex gold concentrates, enabling it to rapidly upgrade its operations. In June 2003, asset re-optimization was carried out, and Yantai Humon Group was established.
2008
In 2008, Humon Shares, a subsidiary controlled by the Group, was successfully listed, marking a milestone in the company’s development and spurring the Group’s rapid expansion and leapfrog growth. Seizing new development opportunities and leveraging capital operations, the company has continuously strengthened its overall capabilities, striving to become the most competitive gold smelting and comprehensive resource utilization enterprise in China. To date, it has invested over RMB 1 billion, acquiring a number of gold mines and launching several large-scale projects that will soon enter production. As a result, the Group’s strength has been significantly enhanced, laying a solid foundation for rapid expansion and development. Gradually, five major business segments have taken shape: gold mining, chemical production, mechanical manufacturing, commerce and logistics, and real estate development.
2011
In 2011, the group’s revenue exceeded RMB 10 billion.
2013
In 2013, Humon Shares made a major breakthrough in geological prospecting, discovering nearly 70 tonnes of gold reserves.
2014
In 2014, Humon Co., Ltd. was named one of the “Top Ten Gold Smelting Enterprises in China,” ranking first.
2017
In 2017, the group’s revenue exceeded RMB 20 billion, and it was listed among the Top 500 Manufacturers in China. In addition, Humon Shares’ “New Technology for Bottom-Blown Smelting, Smelting-Reduction, and Oxygen-Enriched Volatilization Continuous Smelting and Its Industrial Application Project” won the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
2018
The 2018 project for the harmless treatment of waste slag from wet-process gold smelting, along with its supporting facilities, has been completed and put into operation.
2019
In 2019, the Group entered into a strategic partnership with Jiangxi Copper and simultaneously launched a comprehensive corporate reform.
2020
In 2020, the Group’s restructuring efforts progressed steadily. Despite the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, all business segments maintained uninterrupted operations, refrained from production cuts, and upheld salary levels, thereby making solid strides in reform-driven innovation as well as in production, operations, and management. Two of the Group’s enterprises were recognized as high-tech firms, and two of its achievements were awarded the Shandong Provincial Brand Innovation Award. Furthermore, the Group was once again honored as a “Meritorious Enterprise of Muping District.”
2021
In 2021, the Group’s restructuring efforts continued to advance, and a new strategic layout was basically in place. Each business segment “prepared warm winter coats, forged ahead with determination, and set out once again bearing the historic responsibility and glorious mission of ensuring the sustainable development of the Humon enterprise.” Its subsidiaries were respectively recognized as provincial-level “specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative” SMEs and Yantai City’s “One Enterprise, One Technology” R&D center; they passed the Level-1 certification for standardization of work safety in transportation enterprises, which is the highest level of certification in this industry issued by the Ministry of Transport; and they won the Special Project Award under the Science and Technology Innovation Development Program, laying a solid foundation for the company’s sustained development.
2022
In 2022, the Group’s new leadership took over the “baton” from their predecessors and stepped up as the “successors” of the enterprise. All cadres and employees put “dare” first and “act” foremost, kept their eyes on the target, tackled tough challenges, and achieved new breakthroughs in production, operation, management, and reform and innovation. Specifically: Humon Additives Co., Ltd. recorded another record high in product output and attained its best-ever performance on key indicators; it was awarded the Shandong Provincial May Day Labor Award, designated as a Shandong Provincial Enterprise Technology Center, a Yantai Municipal Enterprise Technology Center, and a Yantai Municipal Industrial Design Center, included in the Yantai Municipal Doubling Plan for Cultivating Enterprises, and recognized as a Yantai Model Enterprise and a Third-Class Award for Outstanding Employee Technological Innovation Achievements in Yantai; Humon Logistics Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. successfully obtained national recognition as a science-and-tech enterprise and as an innovative enterprise in Shandong Province, while the logistics company was once again rated as an AAAA-level logistics enterprise; Kunyu Road & Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. secured the highest bid amount in its history, achieving new milestones in winning bids for and executing municipal engineering projects; other companies also made dedicated efforts and contributions to the Group’s development.
2023
In 2023, faced with increasingly severe internal challenges and constant external threats as well as a complex situation, the Group kept its “seatbelt” fastened and maintained firm control of the “steering wheel,” ensuring steady and sustainable progress on the new journey of inheriting and developing the Humon business, striving to achieve the annual targets, realizing steady progress amid complexity, continuously advancing the Humon business through inheritance, and achieving remarkable results in all areas of work.
2024
In 2024, the entire group has closely adhered to the six-character guideline of “inheritance, responsibility, and progress,” achieving steady yet progressive business performance in a complex environment. Humon’s undertakings have achieved innovative development through inheritance, with positive results across all areas of work. By responding to Humon’s “change and constancy” with key performance indicators and concrete actions, we have delivered a “satisfactory report card” to all sectors of society. Through advancing project construction and implementing business integration, Humon Additives Co., Ltd. has completed its upgrade and capacity expansion, securing the top position in the global industry; meanwhile, Humon Logistics Co., Ltd. has streamlined its industrial layout, extended its industrial chain, and entered a new track of development.
